  • This hotel was the first high-rise on Congress Avenue to have exterior lights on its facade.
  • The Nix Group won the "Restoration Project Impact Award" in 2001. The company completely restored the hotel back to its original grandeur. Interior and exterior restorations took place.
  • Tallest hotel in Austin when built in 1924 until 1981 when the Hyatt Regency Hotel was built.
  • When the hotel opened in 1924 it was the second tallest building in Austin and only the Texas State Capitol was taller. 80 years later, in 2004, it ranked number 34 among Austin's tallest buildings.
  • The hotel set vacant for 13 years from 1987 until 1997 when it was bought and restored by T. Stacy & Associates Inc.. The building reopened in 2000.
