Facts

  • There are balconies on the 18th and 21st floors on both the North and South sides of the building.
  • The building has an atrium that is 63' 5' high.
  • Located in the lobby are prehistoric fossils that were found during construction of the building's foundation in 1985 such as the skull of a Saber Tooth Tiger and the tusk of a Mastadon. Archeologists think this area was a watering hole 10,000 years ago.
  • The top of the building has a 19 foot angled glass roof that runs the length of the building's top.
  • The building occupies the location of the 1898 Union Depot which was built by the Houston and Texas Central Railroad. That building was razed in 1965 after it had been vacant for nearly 13 years. There was also a moonlight tower on the corner which had to be moved when the office tower was built.
  • The Austin-based sandwich maker Schlotzsky's Ltd. occupies 20,000 square feet of the building making it the company's headquarters.
