  • Residential condominiums with the address 2929 Chicago Avenue occupy the highest floors of the central section and are known as "The Chicago".
  • The Midtown Exchange Apartments occupy floors 2-8 of the central section and offer 219 affordable rental units for low to moderate income working adults.
  • Allina, a large nonprofit owner of hospitals and healthcare clinics, occupies most of the northern wing of the building, with entrances at 2925 Chicago Avenue.
  • There is a very similar building in Boston, the Landmark Center, which was also constructed by Sears in the late 1920s as a distribution center, closed in 1980 and was redeveloped, opening in 2000 with a major healthcare company as the major tenant.
  • The redevelopers were recognized with the Secretary's Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
  • The Midtown Global Market, an international public market, occupies the southern section of the building, in space that originally contained the Sears Department Store. It carries the address 920 East Lake Street.
  • The redevelopment of this massive structure included the construction of new low-rise condominium and apartment buildings, as well as a Sheraton Hotel facing the Midtown Greenway, abutting the north end of the site.
  • The rooftop signs reading "Midtown" and "Allina Commons" were hoisted atop the building in April 2006.
  • Formerly a retail and catalog facility for Sears, this is the second largest building in Minnesota, after only the Mall of America.
  • This former Sears Warehouse and Department Store was renovated during 2004-2005 into office space, retail stores, over 300 residences, a large parking ramp, and transit hub.
  • A similar structure for Montgomery Ward was completed 7 years earlier in St. Paul. The Montgomery Ward Building was demolished in 1996.
