Facts

  • This building was an early home of the Pillsbury Corporation, now part of General Mills. A later headquarters, US Bank Plaza, stands catercorner across the 2nd Avenue/6th Street intersection from this building.
  • The building is connected by skyway to Capella Tower and Northstar West.
  • The building's somewhat confusing stylistic medley is a result of the addition of a modern glass curtainwall over the original spandrel panels, giving it a more pronounced vertical emphasis.
  • Chicago architects Weary & Alford were responsible for the design of the Metropolitan National Bank on the first floor, now remodeled out of existence.
  • The limestone façade was tuckpointed and cleaned during the summer of 2008.
