Facts

  • The hotel will be rebranded as the Next Hotel & Residences.
  • Exterior changes will be striking, with a new glass curtainwall replacing the 50+ year-old plain brick facade.
  • The lower floors of the building were originally home to two department stores, J.C. Penney's and Bond's.
  • A major renovation for this building was announced in mid-2004. The office space will be revitalized, the hotel will be reduced to 133 rooms, and the top floors will be converted to condominiums.
  • This was the first major building to be constructed in downtown Cincinnati following World War II.
  • The former Terrace Plaza Hotel replaced the Butler Building and several other low-rise buildings on the south side of 6th Street between Vine and Race.
  • The lower 8 floors are virtually windowless except for those of ground-level retail stores along Vine and West 6th Streets.
