Facts

  • Originally built as a 3-story building that was completed in 1930. Five additional levels were completed in 1950.
  • An 8-story horizontal expansion, which expanded the building over to Locust Street, was completed in 1963.
  • A prominent microwave tower, which rose to 332 feet, was added in 1964. It would later be largely enclosed with yet another vertical expansion that was completed in 1973.
  • An even larger relay tower, which was added in 1981 (and can be seen in some of the older photos), was eventually removed because of obsolescence.
