Facts

  • Built in two parts and opened with 1,000 rooms.
  • The second part of the hotel was built in 1916.
  • At the time of its opening, outside of New York City, there was only one other American hotel, besides the Statler, with more than 1,000 rooms.
  • Most of the hotel's operational features were based on the Hotel Buffalo. However, the decor of this Statler was more artistically complex compared to its predecessor in Buffalo.
  • Carl Milstein puchased the hotel in 1980 and converted it into an office building.
  • The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
