Facts

  • After purchasing 200 South Tryon in December 1998, work began to renovate the Class B structure into a Class B+ facility with superior amenities.
  • The renovation included: asbestos abatement; removal of the exterior granite curtain wall on floors two through four; replacement of the curtain wall with a combination of metal and glass; cleaning and painting the remaining exterior; and a complete gutting and renovation of all interior spaces.
  • This was the first high-rise in the state of North Carolina with a glass and metal curtain wall.
  • Constructed atop the site once occupied by the Commercial National Bank Building.
