Facts

  • Omni International was originally intended as a family recreation center. Its atrium featured an 8-story escalator and an indoor ice-skating rink. When the enterprise first opened, it was home to a number of stores, restaurants, and an indoor amusement park. Unfortunately, the Omni International wasn't successful and couldn't compete with suburban shopping and entertainment centers. It almost had to close down, but was bought by Ted Turner and renamed CNN Center.
  • The CNN Center consists of two fourteen-story office wings, a 500-room hotel, and a full-height atrium.
  • This is connected to Philips Arena and the Georgia World Congress Center. It is across the street from the Centennial Olympic Park.
