Facts

  • First temporary station in The Netherlands. Built to stand for just a short period of time. It was located about 30 metres east of the original stations location. In Rotterdam a similar concept was used for the reconstruction of their Central Station
  • The building was demolished in 2012 to make way for new buildings of the Arnhem Centraal complex
  • Replaced Station Arnhem which closed in 2006 and was demolished in 2007. The temporary station closed again in 2011 when the passenger tunnel of the new Arnhem Central Station reopened
  • The station was originally planned to close 2009, but delays of the new transfer hall and tunnel made it necessary to stay open 2 years longer
  • The railway platforms were accessible via a large footbridge
