Facts

  • An eternal flame burns in memory of those soldiers who fell in the 1971 India-Pakistan War.
  • A massive red sandstone arch, built to cormmemorate the Indian and British soldiers who died in World War I and the Third Afghan War.
  • The empty sandstone canopy facing India Gate was originally built to house a statue of King George V, however the statue was removed after Independence, and can now be seen at "Coronation Park", just to the North of the city.
