Facts

  • Originally named the Seattle Theater.
  • The Paramount has remained open throughout the years playing host to movies, concerts, and musicals.
  • In the 1990s, it underwent a $30 million dollar restoration that took 10 months to complete, and the building once again evokes the wonders of a 1920s movie palace.
  • The Paramount has a fully convertible seating system that allows the theatre's main floor to change from the regular sloped theatre seating to a flat ballroom in just a few short hours.
  • When opened, the auditorium seated nearly 4,000.
  • Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
  • Unanimous landmark status was granted on February 13, 1995 with a 9-0 vote.
