  • Tallest building in Indiana from 1970 until 1982, when the One American Square was completed.
  • The tower was topped out on November 9, 1968.
  • One Indiana Square was constructed on the site previously occupied by the Knights of Pythias Building and the 200 block of Massachusetts Avenue. This diagonal street was vacated from the Ohio Street/Pennsylvania Street intersection to the New York Street/Delaware Street intersection at that time to make way for the new tower.
  • The tower rises from the west side of a broad platform that occupies the entire southern half of the block.
  • One Indiana Square was originally conceived to include two additional towers on the northern portion of the same block; one of approximately 20 floors at the SW corner of Delaware Street and New York Street, and the other of approximately 12 floors at the SE corner of New York Street and Pennsylvania Street. These towers were never built.
  • One Indiana Square received a new crown design and exterior lighting scheme in the early 1990s. It proved to be unpopular with both architecture critics and the public at large.
  • The original facade of glass, aluminum, and marble was plagued with problems. The curtain wall was prone to window damage during severe thunderstorms and the marble began to deteriorate from exposure to freezing and thawing cycles.
  • Strong winds from a severe thunderstorm blew out numerous windows on the higher floors of the north and west sides on April 2, 2006.
  • A new design was announced in March 2007 to replace the damaged facade. Designed by Gensler of San Francisco, the tower was re-skinned over a two-year period.
  • The base of the tower retains the original facade treatment.
