  • Home to the Guateng Legislature since 14th November 2003, when the building was purchased for R 20 million.
  • The building contains the second largest pipe organ in the Southern Hemisphere.
  • The winning design came from a Cape Town firm called Hawke and McKinlay.
  • The building cost £503,000 to build and was constructed by Mattheus Meischke, who also built the Old Post Office opposite.
  • The Clocktower was added in 1937, some years after the building had been completed.
  • The City Hall design came out of a competition held in 1909.
