Facts

  • Originally home to the Boston Company Department Store.
  • The lower floors once again became a department store when Sears moved into the first 3 floors in 2001.
  • The exceptional height for a 17-story building comes from two extremely high mechanical rooms housed in brick towers on the north side of the building. These can be seen easily from North State Street.
  • One of the buildings demolished to clear land for this building was an early skyscraper by the same architects called the Champlain Building.
