Facts

  • Named after the Lincoln Park Conservatory, a botanical greenhouse located across the street.
  • Construction halted in May 1975 when the original mortgage financier filed for bankruptcy. Most of the construction work was complete, but electrical, plumbing, and heating systems were only partly installed.
  • The half-finished tower became known as the "mistake on the lake" during the time it sat unfinished.
  • The building was completed in 1981 by architects Mann, Gin, Ebel & Frazier and general contractors Mayfair Construction Company.
