Facts

  • When the building was renovated its architects created a new elevator shaft on the north side to serve the two buildings being connected. To settle the floor height differences, the 2nd and 7th floors are connected by stairs and the others by ramps.
  • The facade has two prominent window bays held up by carved stone figures.
  • In 1987 this building was combined with the 7-story Duplicator Building to the north and a new addition on Congress Avenue to form an Omni Hotel, which has now become the Blake Hotel.
