Facts

  • A renovation in 1985 converted this building from a hotel to offices. The central light court was capped with a skylight to create an atrium extending nearly the full height of the building.
  • When converted to offices the building was first called the Traders Building, referring to its location in the heart of the exchange district. It is across the street from the Chicago Board Options Exchange and kitty-corner from the Board of Trade.
  • The lobby is covered in wood paneling, and has two historical murals at the mezzanine level depicting Fort Dearborn.
  • Before the hotel was converted to offices, the two murals of Fort Dearborn were behind the reception desk.
