Facts

  • Shortly before construction of Park Tower next door, the building's design was altered when a set of large finials was removed from the top corners.
  • A 1922 design for this building by Schmidt, Garden & Martin called for a Renaissance Revival structure with large arches in the top four floors and a pedimented cornice.
  • Originally built as the Illinois Women's Athletic Club, it also housed several stores and offices, all of which catered to women.
