Facts

  • The lobby is clad in black, grey, green, and white marble. The main entrance on Wacker is a half-rotunda, connecting to a large hall on the Franklin Street side.
  • Its river location provides abundant natural light from windows on all sides of the granite clad building.
  • When KPF built 333 West Wacker in 1983, the architects hoped publicly that any development across the street would be masonry as a counterpoint to the reflective glass. Four years later the firm received the commission for 225 West Wacker, getting the chance to fulfill their wish.
  • When the building was topped out in March 1989, a seven-foot top hat was paraded around the Loop in the morning and placed on top of the structure to reflect "the style and elegance of the building" according to its developer.
