Facts

  • Newberry Plaza was the first highrise project in Chicago with townhomes built on top of the building's pedestal, above street level. This device was used almost 30 years later at 1 East 15th and The Fordham.
  • The top thirteen floors are slightly wider than the rest of the tower.
  • Stands at the west end of Bellevue Place, with clear views down the street to Oak Street Beach.
  • This is taller than any building farther north in Chicago. (The next building with this title is Park Place Tower.).
  • When completed this was the sixth-tallest all-residential skyscraper in the world.
