  • Located at Wells and Lake Streets, the only intersection in Chicago where 2 elevated rapid transit lines cross paths in opposite directions. The building is therefore flanked by el tracks on two sides.
  • The building consists of a large base with an eight story tower on its south side, topped by a stepped pyramid.
  • The recently converted building has apartment units which been retrofitted with acoustical aluminum frame windows to alleviate noise from the elevated trains below.
  • The building was cleaned, renovated, and converted into luxury apartments in 2003.
  • The building address was changed from 201 North Wells Street to 182 West Lake Street during its conversion from an office building into apartments.
  • A tall metal ornament caps the ziggurat tower. The piece was temporarily removed during the renovation.
