Facts

  • The building has a limestone base and brick-clad upper floors. The courtyard contains a fountain and a garden.
  • The southern tower facing Central Park incorporates a multi-floor penthouse apartment.
  • Built in 1929, replaced the Beresford Hotel and has, as opposed to the other apartment buildings here, not only two, but three cupola-topped towers, two on the Central Park side, and the third on the 81st Street side rear corner.
  • Completed September 1929.
  • Curiously, the building is divided into three parts, each having its own entrance and lavishly decorated lobby.
