Cathédrale Marie-Reine du Monde, St. James Cathedral
Structure in General
beaux-arts / historism
This Cathedral is a scaled-down replica of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, and is located in what was the heart of the city's Anglo-Protestant sector at the end of the 19th century. A spectacular gilded neo-baroque baldachin can be found over the altar.
The 13 statues on top of the main facade were installed in 1900.
With the dome completed in 1886, interior ornamentation required eight more years before consecration in 1894.
