Facts

  • This Cathedral is a scaled-down replica of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, and is located in what was the heart of the city's Anglo-Protestant sector at the end of the 19th century. A spectacular gilded neo-baroque baldachin can be found over the altar.
  • The 13 statues on top of the main facade were installed in 1900.
  • With the dome completed in 1886, interior ornamentation required eight more years before consecration in 1894.
