• Though originally a Catholic cathedral, since the Reformation it has been a Protestant minster or collegiate church.
• It exhibits some of the finest stone and wood carvings in Switzerland, including the 234 statues of The Last Judgment above the main portal.
• The chancel's stained-glass windows date back to the 15th Century.
• The bell tower of Bern Cathedral is the tallest in Switzerland.
• The main body of the church was finished in 1596, leaving the tower to be completed 300 years later.
