  • The most spectacular part of the building from an architectural point of view is the upwards-spiralling staircase in the sixteen-story void of the entrance lobby.
  • The basement below the building contains the high security 'command-post' from where the flow of gas in the Gasunie pipeline network is controlled.
  • Standing opposite of the city park at the junction of the A7 motorway and the Groningen ring road, the head office is a highly visible landmark.
  • According to the Dutch 'Stichting Hoogbouw', this building is ranked the 5th 'best skyscraper in the Netherlands', meaning it is the best skyscraper outside the 'Randstad', which is the three largest cities of Rotterdam, Amsterdam and The Hague. Gebouw Delftse Poort 1 won first place.
  • The Nederlandse Gasunie is responsible for buying, selling, and transporting natural gas.
  • Because one of the largest gasfields in Europe (besides Russia) is located in the province of Groningen, the Nederlandse Gasunie choose Groningen to settle their main headquarters.
