Facts

  • Athens Tower was the tallest building in the Balkans at the time of completion (1971).
  • Tallest building in Greece.
  • Athens Tower is considered the first "real" skyscraper built in Greece, after the 14-storey Hilton Athens was completed in 1963. A controversial construction at the time of completion, due to its height compared to the neighbouring blocks, it is considered the only "real" skyscraper in Athens by its friends and enemies alike.
  • During the 1990s, antennas were added to the tower without constituting part of the structural frame.
