Facts

  • In 1997 the tower was finished, and in 1998 the complete set of bells reinstalled.
  • G. Friedrich Thormeyer built the tower in 1823. It is the only purely Neo-Classical tower on Dresden's skyline.
  • After heavy damage in 1945, it was rebuilt in 1948-50, though without the upper portions of the tower.
  • The late Baroque Annenkirche was built between 1764 and 1769 by J. Georg Schmidt following destruction in 1760 of a predecessor building during the Seven Years' War.
