This building was originally clad in a handsome basalt or 'bluestone' non- structural veneer. Soon after construction was completed a number of these bluestone slabs began to separate from the facade putting at risk pedestrians below. The building was subsequently re-clad in anodised aluminium sheets at great expense. There is still evidence of the original 'bluestone' veneer in the subway entrance at the base of the tower.
