Facts

  • Designed by architect Helmut Jahn, this late 1980s proposal paid homage to Raymond Hood's McGraw-Hill Building in New York.
  • The design called for a tower broken into 3 masses by recessed floors at two levels behind a super-grid.
  • The building's top was to have three stacked plates projecting from the mechanical penthouse, with a vertical slab and spire rising from one side.
  • A parking garage was to occupy the first 8 floors of the building, with offices above.
