Facts

  • The Equitable Life Assurance Company Building reflected the style of H. H. Richardson with its arcaded openings, granite base, brick upper stories, and terra-cotta trim.
  • Originally only eight stories tall and of cast-iron construction, the top floors were added in 1911 by Proudfoot, Bird, and Rawson and were built of steel framing.
  • Placed on the National Register of Historic places in 1976, it was subsequently removed due to a procedural error.
  • The building was subsequently demolished and replaced with Two Ruan Center.
