Facts

  • An addition was added in 1960 along with a "modernizing" refacing. It was imploded December 5, 1982 to make way for the new Plaza VII.
  • From 1969 until 1981 it was connected by skyway to the Radisson Center, located directly across 7th Street. That building was demolished to make way for the Marriott Hotel City Center. It stood for only 12 years, by far the shortest life of any high-rise building in Minneapolis.
  • This was the original Radisson Hotel, the namesake for the global chain of Radisson Hotels and Resorts. When opened on December 15, 1909, it was billed as the finest hotel between Chicago and the Pacific Coast.
