  • Director Tim Burton had stayed at the hotel several times on trips to Las Vegas. He was bothered by the demolition of the "landmark", and featured it in his 1995 film, "Mars Attacks!".
  • The hotel had 525 guest rooms.
  • The Landmark was bought before completion and opened by Las Vegas developer Howard Hughes.
  • When the nearby Bally's North Tower (back then MGM Grand) burned in 1980, the security guards of Landmark ran to the nearby pharmacies to get supplies for the victims.
  • The Landmark was demolished by implosion on November 7, 1995.
  • The demolition was shown in the movie "Mars Attacks".
