Facts

  • The first 8 floors were completed in 1918, and the remaining 6 were added in 1921.
  • This was the tallest flatiron building ever built in Indianapolis. The Medical Arts Building, proposed for a site northeast of the Circle by the same architects, would have risen higher.
  • The Lincoln Hotel was demolished to make way for the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis/PNC Center. At this time the diagonal street Kentucky Avenue was vacated between the Washington Street/Illinois Street & Maryland Street/Capitol Avenue intersections.
