Facts

  • The design had the modular forms of early modernism, with an eclectic mixture of neoclassical treatments including pilasters and columns, horizontal courses, and flamboyant decorations at the cornice and upper floors.
  • A central skylit courtyard, surrounded by cantilevered open hallways with elaborate iron railings, provided sunlight to every floor.
  • Demolished to make way for the 33 North LaSalle.
  • The structure was supported primarily by a modern steel frame, except for masonry piers which secured the metal skeleton at the perimeter of the base.
