Facts

  • The façade was a very simple design with a strong vertical emphasis. The 12 windows on each floor were separated by narrow projecting piers rising from the base of the third floor to the cornice.
  • One of three demolished highrise buildings at the site of Cesar Pelli's 181 West Madison office building.
  • Sometimes referred to as the Madison-LaSalle Building, although it was located mid-block between LaSalle and Wells Streets. (The appellation was presumably meant to trade on the prestige of LaSalle Street, the city's main financial corridor.)
