Facts

  • The Hotel Berolina is part of the huge Karl-Marx-Allee/Stalinallee development and was the first post-WWII hotel in East Berlin. It was placed under historic preservation protection in 1995 as exemplary of the architecture of its time.
  • A proposal was made in 1997 to replace the unloved and obsolete building with a district city hall (Mitte District Offices) which would immitate the Berolina's design.
  • The Rathaus Berlin Mitte replaced the hotel.
  • Ein Rathaus Berlin Mitte ersetzte das Hotel.
