Facts

  • The tower's footprint is angled 45° to the corner, similar to that of Lakeside Tower which was built at the same time on the Near South Side.
  • The building was planned in 2001, four years before construction started. The proposal lay dormant for a while and was revived in March 2004 as a joint venture with Fifield Realty.
  • On June 26, 2006 lightning struck the tower crane, slightly injuring a worker on the ground.
  • The building occupies the site of the old Braun Bottles plant. The white letters spelling 'Braun Bottles' on the plant's roof were a landmark for commuters crossing the river on the Brown or Purple Line el trains.
