When completed Bijlmer Station will be one of the five largest train stations in the Netherlands.
It will be an important transport interchange and a unifying urban strategy.
This clarity is reinforced by the roof structure which covers a 200m long section, coming to a peak over the central hall where there is a substantial break emphasising the direction of the Boulevard.
Located at Amsterdam Zuidoost between Amsterdam and Utrecht, the station will span a diagonal Boulevard which divides the existing city centre to the east from the Ajax Stadium and new developments to the west.
The form of the roof expresses the dynamics of high speed travel. Each set of tracks will have their own roof vault, supported by 4 raking A-frame columns but cantilevered by 18m at either end.
