Facts

  • The below grade parking and floors 1 through 25 will be occupied by the New York State Supreme Court and Kings County Family Court.
  • This building will be the largest courthouse ever built in New York State.
  • At the center spans of each elevation and at the four extreme corners of the building, the enclosure consists of a continuous unitized curtainwall system with the typical glass & aluminum panel infills with a shadow box assembly at the spandrel areas.
  • Another notable feature of this project and its curtainwall system is the bullet and blast resistant specified design. At the Ground Floor, Mezzanine and Levels 22 through 25, the curtainwall system incorporates bullet resistant glazing and framing.
  • The enclosure from the Ground Floor to Level 25, consists mostly of 7’-4” wide vertical “columns” of unitized curtainwall flanked by Brick Veneer Precast Panels (by others).
  • Rising 473 feet high, consisting of 32 stories and totaling over 1.1 million square feet, the new courthouse will house Family Court and State Supreme Court, Criminal Term, and will be located in the heart of downtown Brooklyn at 330 Jay Street.
  • The New York State Supreme Courthouse was topped-out on October 21, 2003.
  • 330 Jay Street has been designed to be an integral part of the Metrotech Center complex and responds to the context of downtown Brooklyn.
  • The design, construction and outfitting of the new courthouse will cost over $600 million and is being financed by bonds issued on behalf of the City of New York.
  • This project in Brooklyn is part of New York City’s master plan for the renovation and construction of courthouses in all five boroughs.
  • Rising 473 feet high, 330 Jay Street consists of 32 stories (including two stories that will house the building's mechanical equipment).
