Facts

  • The project was to be constructed on a culturally sensitive site, at the corner of Ulica Marszałkowska and Ulica Królewska, in the vicinity of Saxon Garden.
  • The elevation decorations are restricted to a minimum as the architects refrained from using bay windows and cornices.
  • When viewed from the north in the company of Zielna Point, both buildings are designed in a similar way and may constitute therefore a kind of gate to central Warsaw.
  • Proclaimed "Warsaw's favorite building" in the years 2002 and 2003 in a pole run by Gazeta Wyborcza and Architektura-Murator magazine.
  • The dynamic main side, thanks to the rounded corner, makes the building stand back from a monumental, socrealist row of houses from the 1950s along Ulica Marszałkowska.
  • The first winning project was designed with a height to match the scale of the building's frontage. But in the opinion of main architects, it did not present outstanding enough design. As a result, the project was redone from the beginning and a height of 54 meters was decided on as the most suitable for this site, corresponding spatially with nearby PASTa.
  • The aim of the three large window openings is an attempt to reference the building's surroundings.
  • The southern façade, unlike the others covered with travertine, is made of aluminum and features a different, modern division of windows.
