About this Zone
The geographic heart of the city, Monument Circle is the large circular plaza at the junction of Meridian Street & Market Street, with the Soldiers & Sailors Monument at the center. The four city blocks that front the circle are bounded by Ohio Street to the North, Pennsylvania Street to the East, Washington Street to the South, and Illinois Street to the West. These four blocks are sometimes collectively referred to as the Circle Block. Strict zoning regulations restrict heights on the southern two blocks, so as not to cast shadows on the Soldiers & Sailors Monument.
