About Osaka-fu
The prefecture of Osaka has as of December 2005 overtaken Kanagawa prefecture as the second most populated prefecture of the country, after sprawling Tokyo. For years the two prefectures have been rivalling each other for the second spot.

The main city of Osaka remains in third position in population after Yokohama City.
