News: Smith to go condo?
Seattle:
An office building since 1914, Chicago-based Walton Street Capital filed a request with the city on February 28, 2007 to convert the Seattle icon to residential use. The owner is seeking permission knowing not everyone embraces the concept. Even though the tower's occupancy rate has been around 90% lately two of its biggest tenants are soon moving, Providence Health and the Disney Internet Group.
It is because of this, and the march to live downtown, that interests Walton Street to at least take a look at the potential. The overall intent is the preservation of the famous tower. Those tenants who have not considered being anywhere else make mention of the great light the building affords and how it actually increases morale.
Time will soon tell whether or not the Smith Tower goes condo. |
