News: Small fire at 2IFC construction site in Hong Kong
Hong Kong:
The 412-meter Two International Financial Center, currently under construction in Hong Kong's Central district, had a small fire on its 12th floor yesterday. Apparently some construction materials started burning at 9:52 a.m. and all construction workers had to be evacuated. Fire fighters were able to put out the flames in just half an hour, thanks to an advanced hydrant system being used in the skyscraper.
The fire ended up spreading over approximately 10 square meters (100 square feet), and two windows were broken. No severe damage was caused, and the construction schedule has not been delayed. All high-rise buildings in Hong Kong are required to have a vertical hydrant system with access points at every 30 meters of height (approximately every 10 floors). |
