News: Full height approved for Taipei Financial Center
Taipei:
Taiwan's Civil Aeronautics Administration has given approval for the Taipei Financial Center to reach its planned height of 508 meters, according to an article from Financial Times on March 1, 2002. The 101-storey tower will claim the world's tallest building title if the 60 meter mast is considerd a spire.
Aviation officials said they had decided improved facilities at Taipei's downtown Sungshan Airport meant the Financial Centre, being built by Kumagai Gumi of Japan, would not endanger aircraft.
The structure is already climbing skyward, and is expected to top out later this year. |
