About Saskatoon

202,340 in city
57.27 mi² (148.34 km²)

It is the largest city in Saskatchewan and has been inhabited for over 6,000 years. However, it was not until the summer of 1883 that the first settlers began to arrive and in 1903 Saskatoon was chartered. The name Saskatoon is derived from *mis-sask-quah-toomina*, the Cree Indian name for a local indigenous berry.

One of the sunniest cities in Canada (2,381 hours annually), Saskatoon is about 400 kilometres north of the U.S. border.
