Onondaga

Onondaga is an unincorporated village approximately 20 miles (32 kilometers) south of Lansing along the Grand River in the very southwestern corner of Ingham County. Being unincorporated, the village's government is administered by Onondaga Township in which the village resides.

The village was originally laid out in July of 1870, though settlement had started in the 1840's, primarily by John Sherman as Grand River Valley division of the Michigan Central Railroad had recently built a line through the village. Today, the village is governed by Onondaga Township, and the townships highground have made it an ideal place to erect communications towers for the Lansing Metropolitan Area.
