Monterrey is the capital of the northern state of Nuevo León. It is known as the "City of the Mountains" for its location, right in the middle of the Sierra Madre mountain chain. It is Mexico's third largest city and second in industrial output. Recognized around the world for its entrepeneurial character Monterrey is considered one of the best cities for business in the world. The city is home to some of the largest Mexican corporations. Although this corporations have traditionally opted for large corporate states, the recent lack of space in the city is forcing companies to build upward. For this reason the city is experiencing a construction boom, particularly in the San Pedro Garza Garcia area, which is expected to grow considerably in the next few years.
