Honolulu is the state capital and largest city in Hawaii. It is a cosmopolitan city of industry, finance, recreation, and culture. The city is a crossroads of trans-Pacific air and shipping routes and the gathering place for the state. The city-county of Honolulu comprises all of the island of Oahu, but there are no incorporated cities in Hawaii. Honolulu is usually loosely defined as the area from just east of Pearl Harbor to the Hawaii Kai.
The city skyline extends from the Airport area residential towers through Downtown to the hotel towers that line Waikiki Beach and extend beyond Diamond Head.
